INDUSTRY
The industrial sector plays a relatively small role in the Andorran economy, accounting for only 2.4% of companies and 4.4% of workers, and it is focussed mainly on supplies for the domestic market.
Of the 208 Andorran industrial companies, 7 are involved in activities related to the production and distribution of electric energy, gas and water, while the rest are manufacturing companies in the strict sense. Among these, the most important activities are the wood and cork industries, excluding furniture making, which employ 16% of all workers in the industrial sector, publishing, graphic arts and reproduction and recorded support systems (15.5%), the tobacco industry (14.9%), and food and drink products (13.4%).
The business structure of the sector is characterised by the fact that the average size of companies is greater than that for the economy taken as a whole, even though small companies still predominate in general terms. Accordingly, 55% of companies have 5 or less workers and only 9.1% have a staff of more than 25 workers.
